I’ve noticed that a lot of companies want an intern who is proficient in most social media platforms. How can I incorporate this into my resume or cover letter?

Another good one. I would put it under the heading Skills. I think most templates have that. The same place where you would outline which software you’re familiar with. (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Just add another bullet point and put, “active and proficient on Twitter, 4Square, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, Formspring, WordPress and Flickr.”
