Aliya, when you successfully pitch a magazine, do following pitches have to be as formal as the first? Can’t you just present your ideas in a…soft pitch sort of way? Or, should one continue to come hard until editors say otherwise?

I continue to issue very formal pitches until I know the editors very very very well. There is only one editor I would send a soft pitch. The rest, no matter how long I’ve known them, get a formal pitch. Always.
